Research Interest

I am interested in a wide range of studies that give priority to Indigenous Knowledge systems and community-centred approaches. Over the years, these priorities have tended to overlap with heritage studies, critical thinking, spatial analysis and ethnoarchaeological research. At the heart of these overlaps is the passion to use archaeology and heritage as tools to address socio-contemporary issues. Currently, I am investigating how colonial heritage can be reimagined to create a narrative that can benefit marginalized communities, specifically, how the repurposing of historical structures in Nigeria associated with colonialism and slavery can serve as platforms for societal engagement, economic growth and the decolonizing of heritage practice in an African Context.
