The (Improvising) Voice in Electroacoustic Music: A Lecture and Discussion with Trevor Wishart

The first event of Year Two of Improvising Spaces is part of a 5 day residency by the composer/improviser/vocalist Trevor Wishart. Wishart has been a central figure in international electroacoustic music since the early 1970s. He will speak about the role of vocal improvisation in his work and about his system of categorizing human vocal sound. Dr. Wishart will also be leading a variety of workshops and concerts during his residency. These events are free and open to all. For more information on these events see:

Trevor Wishart:

Trevor Wishart is a improviser and composer whose interests deal mainly with the human voice, in particular with the transformation of it and the interpolation by technological means between human voice and natural sounds. Wishart has written two books On Sonic Art and Audible Design. On Sonic Art puts forth his theoretical and philosophical ideas while Audible Design deals mainly with the practice and technique of composing with digital audio.
