Search for Canada Research Chair in Ethnomusicology underway

The School of Music and Faculty of Arts (Department of Folklore) are pleased to launch a search for a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Ethnomusicology.

Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Ethnomusicology. The ideal candidate will be a distinguished scholar with an established record of music research with a PhD in Ethnomusicology, folklore or cognate discipline.

The CRC will benefit from the fertile environment at the Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media and Place (MMaP). Established in 2003, MMaP serves as a bridge between academy and community, initiating and facilitating research and creative activity. The CRC will work toward further establishing Memorial University of Newfoundland as an international centre of excellence, and will provide stimulating research opportunities and training for graduate students in the interdisciplinary MA and PhD programs in ethnomusicology. S/he will also have demonstrated a commitment to communicating the results and importance of scholarly research to the public.
