Junior Band Week registration deadline coming up!
Know a student who might want to blow their own horn this summer? Registration for music@memorial's 6th annual Junior Band Week at the School of Music is coming up July 1, 2017!
Be sure and drop by the School of Music main office (MU-2000) from Monday – Friday 8:30-4pm to sign up your young musician for a week of great experiences July 31-Aug. 4. The camp is geared towards band students starting grades 4-9 in the fall who have between 0 and 4 years of playing experience. That's right, no experience necessary!
It's a great head start for the fall, and you'll meet fellow musicians from across the province and beyond.
Highlights include:
- Instruction from professional musicians/educators
- Full band rehearsalsInstrument-specific classes and instruction
- Small chamber groups
- One-on-one lessons
- Staff/faculty performances
- And don't forget the cool T-shirts
Spaces are available for all brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, as well as bass guitar. (Sorry, no other strings or guitar this year). A final concert (free to family, friends and the public) will take place Friday August 4 at 3:00pm.
Cost for the week is $250 payable by cash or cheque (made payable to Memorial University). Payment is due by July 1st, 2017 and can be made in-person at the School of Music main office (MU-2000). Hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:30-4pm.
