Undergraduate String Audition Guidelines

Applicants whose repertoire features piano accompaniment are required to perform their auditions with a collaborative pianist. Should health and safety concerns prevent an applicant from performing with a collaborative pianist, contact us to ask for an accommodation. String applicants in this position may play their auditions solo or with a track.

VIOLIN

  1. Repertoire
    1. Two contrasting movements from the Six Solo Sonatas and Partitas (BWV 1001 -1006) by J. S. Bach
    2. One piece of your own choice
  2. Technical Requirements
    1. All major and melodic minor scales, three octaves, slurring four notes per bow, in eighth notes, half-note = 48
    2. All major and minor arpeggios, three octaves, slurring three notes per bow, in triplet eighth notes, quarter-note = 48
