Indigenous Pre-Med Mentorship Program
Every journey is easier when someone walks beside you.
The Indigenous Pre-Med Mentorship Program connects prospective Indigenous medical students with current Indigenous medical learners who understand the challenges, questions, and opportunities that come with pursuing medicine.
Through mentorship, participants gain:
- Guidance through the medical school application process.
- Insight into student life.
- Encouragement from Indigenous peers.
- Connections within the Indigenous learner community.
- Confidence to pursue their goals.
Mentorship may include one-on-one conversations, virtual meetings, workshops, group events, and informal networking opportunities, making participation possible for learners across rural, remote, and northern communities.
More than preparing students for admission, the program helps build lasting relationships and a sense of belonging that extends throughout medical education and beyond.
Our mentors generously volunteer their time to support future generations of Indigenous healthcare professionals. Their lived experience, encouragement, and willingness to share their own journeys help strengthen pathways into medicine for Indigenous learners.
