What is IDW?

IDW and SDG might sound a bit like alphabet soup - but it is an important time of year at Memorial University. It serves to celebrate the work that is being done in International Development and our connection to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The theme for 2025 is: "Cooperation for a sustainable future: Marking 35 years of IDW."

International Development Week (IDW) is an annual event in Canada designed to highlight the work in which individual associations and organizations are engaged with respect to their role as global citizens.

Memorial's activities are planned in coordination with the over-arching theme developed by Global Affairs Canada and through our affiliation with the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC).

Each year IDW's theme aligns with the United Nation's (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. The activities thus planned for IDW 2025 at Memorial will similarly align with specific goals championed by the UN.
