Interim Assistant Dean & Faculty Lead, Global Health and Health Equity
Dr. Maisam Najafizada is an Assistant Professor of Health Policy at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland. He also serves as an Interim Assistant Dean for Social Accountability Office at the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Najafizada's research has a global reach, with a special focus on health systems and policies. His areas of research interest include health policy analysis, comprehensive primary health care, human resources for population health, complex adaptive health systems, and international comparison of health care systems. He has taken part in several important research projects, including the evaluation of primary healthcare programs within national health systems, assessing rural community interventions to improve overall population health, monitoring SDG implementation in South Asia, the evaluation of cannabis policies in Newfoundland and Labrador, enhancing the lives of older Canadians in long-term care, and identifying models of patient-centered care in Canada.
