CNIW is seeking a Part-time Public Health Research Summer Camp Educator to join the team from June to August 2023 (with a possible extension contingent on funding). The position focuses on supporting the CNIW team in revising the curriculum and teaching high-school students on health literature search, data analysis with SPSS or MS Excel using pre-collected survey data or PUFM CCHS files, grading students' assignments, creating small datasets for students, and possibly mentoring 2-3 campers on a small project(s) during the summer course. The incumbent will work mostly virtually, except for in-person teaching in Markham, Ontario. The successful candidate will work closely with the CNIW director, program coordinator, and other team members, and have the opportunity to play a leadership role in reshaping the program. The incumbent will also have access to several COVID-19 survey data and provide scientific publications. The role description includes, but is not limited to, supporting the development and implementation of curriculum-linked classroom lesson plans and learning materials to support CNIW summer camp students, working directly with CNIW team members, and assisting in the development and delivery of learning offerings and ongoing coaching. The ideal candidate will be a registered PhD or senior MSc student in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, social science, or related areas. Candidates with public research and/or teaching experience are considered an asset. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of key principles of public health research, strong attention to equity, and excellent communication (oral and written), facilitation, and presentation skills. This is a part-time position (approximately 5 hours per week for 8-10 weeks) with a fixed payment of $3000-3500 per term contract. The schedule is flexible, except for teaching and meetings. The successful candidate must have a PhD or senior master's degree. The work location is remote, except for in-person teaching. The deadline for submission is 4:00 p.m. on May 10, 2023. Applicants are thanked in advance for their interest; however, only those who have been short-listed for an interview will be contacted. Accommodation for applicants is available in the recruitment process. All interviews will be held virtually via Zoom.
