How to apply
Sponsored students are required to apply to Memorial University through the normal admission process. You should also contact international@mun.ca. Each sponsoring organization has its own application for sponsorship.
Finding a supervisor
Some graduate programs require you to find a supervisor. We will do all we can to place you with a supervisor. Contact international@mun.ca for help.
You can also consult the departmental website, yaffle, or connect with the Graduate Officer of the academic unit to search for potential supervisors. You can then contact your potential supervisor via email to see if they are willing to supervise you. First impressions are important.
Should I mention to my potential supervisor that I am a sponsored student?
Yes, please let your potential supervisor know you are sponsored when you first contact them. Include information about your sponsor and if you have a Financial Guarantee letter include that as an attachment in your email. If you haven’t yet applied for sponsorship but plan to do so please also mention this in your first email, stating which sponsorship you intend to apply for.
Does my program require a supervisor?
Most thesis-based graduate programs require a supervisor. If you are unsure please visit the programs website or contact the department to find out more.
I have a supervisor- what next?
Once you have secured a supervisor you need to apply to your program through the normal process for graduate students and contact international@mun.ca.
