Research Statement
My thesis research involves the consolidation and analysis of the archaeological collection excavated from the two households at the Snooks Cove site, on Groswater Bay in Labrador. The collection was partially excavated in the 1970s and completed by Memorial University students in 2009. Analysis was undertaken based on the early excavations but the recent excavation and collected data has put the chronology into question. I intend to develop a more nuanced understanding of the lives of the Inuit at Snooks Cove by revisiting site analysis, interviewing community members in Rigolet, and comparing the data to other sites in Labrador.
