Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music Pilot

Admission requirements

All applicants to Memorial University are evaluated for general admission. In recognizing the diversity of skillsets, learning styles, outlooks, and creativity of School of Music and School of Fine Arts applicants, these schools have developed a pilot admissions process to welcome students from a variety of backgrounds who do not meet the current general admission requirements.

Canadian applicants applying for the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music (for the fall 2025 through fall 2028 admissions cycles) will be automatically considered under a modified set of requirements for this program. Eligible applicants will still be evaluated based on the additional criteria (audition, interview, portfolio, etc.) for competitive entry into these programs.

In order to be considered for admission under this pilot, applicants will need to successfully complete their provincial high school graduation requirements with grade 12 level courses in the following subject groups:

  • English
  • Group A
  • Group B

Approved courses by province/territory are listed below. Applicants will need an overall average of at least 70% in the courses that are used to fulfil the subject groups listed above, and a passing grade in each course.

Applicants who meet the pilot admission requirements will be offered early acceptance subject to the limitations of this pilot. Verified acceptance for applicants admitted under this pilot will be contingent on an offer of admission from the School of Fine Arts or School of Music and successfully meeting the pilot admission requirements when any in-progress high school courses are completed. Applicants who are not successful with their Fine Arts or Music application, and/or who do not meet the pilot admission requirements upon completion of their courses, will have their offers revoked.
