And remember, you’re not doing this alone. There’s an entire team behind you, championing you as you begin your journey. Memorial's support units are here to help you achieve your goals and succeed. Your course instructors, professors, academic advisors, and staff in your faculty, school or department are also available to guide you through your program.

Prepare for course selection and registration

Preparing for your first semester starts with understanding your academic options. The best way to being is by booking an appointment with an academic advisor or attending an academic advising session. Our advisors have resources to help you build your schedule with confidence, review course offerings, find your registration time, and learn how Memorial’s registration process works.

You’ll find guidance on sample first‑year programs for all campuses, and advising tools like courses and subjects available in your first year, electives, math, science and language course guides, and transfer credit charts that help you build a balanced course load and meet your program requirements.

Register for your courses

Once you’ve mapped out your semester and know what your schedule could look like, you’re ready to register. Let us walk you through the steps you’ll take when registration opens, including how to add courses and make changes to your registration, navigate waitlists, and understand course reserves and restrictions.

After you register, you'll have online access to transition programming and required and pre-requisite non‑credit courses.

Step into university life and get set up for campus

University is more than academics—it’s a community. No matter which campus you attend, we have the events and resources that will help you transition into student life. Dive into orientation events and welcome activities, explore our wellness and medical services, utilize our student supports and help centres, and then discover new ways to get involved and build your network.

But before the semester begins, make sure you’ve taken care of the essential to-do items that give you access to campus and ensure you’re ready for your first day. Now is the time to request your campus card, confirm and pay your tuition and fees for the semester, set up Wi‑Fi and technology access, purchase textbooks and supplies, explore locker options, and plan your route to campus.
