These are just a few of the unusual creatures found in human mythology. Their very names spark the imagination, captivating us with the mystical worlds they inspire. Some will exhilarate, others will terrify - and they all stimulate us to see the world around us as a more magical place. But what lies behind that magic??

This exhibit reveals the stories behind a wide array of mythological creatures, some of which have fascinated humans for thousands of years. In many cases, we are able to provide a scientific basis to the inspiration for these magnificent creatures; some, however, remain in the realm of imagination and mystery.
