Dr. Russell Adams
Dr. Russell Adams is a Professor of Psychology and Pediatrics, and is the Chair of MUN’s largest research ethics board, the Interdisciplinary Committee on Ethics in Human Research (ICEHR).
Over the early years of his academic career, Russ completed an eclectic training combining developmental psychology, psychophysics, neuroscience and pediatric medicine. He is probably best known for his work in the vision sciences, notably the emergence and development of vision in human infants. He has published over 100 papers and short reports within journals in vision science and clinical medicine.
As is common among many mid-to-late career academics, he has turned his attention to a new research area, and now also teaches and studies the human relationship with money, most notably financial risk taking, and behavioural economics. He was been involved in research ethics in science for about 25 years, was a founding member of the ICEHR, and has been Chair of the Board a few times, including the past 5 years.
