Dr. Cristina Fabretto
Dr. Cristina Fabretto is an Italian-Canadian researcher, educator and consultant specializing in professional communication in international and intercultural contexts. Her interest into how communication affects the growth and success of individual professionals, teams, projects, and companies stems from working as lead project negotiator and accredited translator with and within many diverse, cross-functional, and often geographically dispersed teams. This professional experience provided the starting point for what became her Interdisciplinary Ph.D. ‒ a case study on strengthening intercultural professional communication competence of future engineers.
At Memorial since 2003, Dr. Fabretto has developed and taught several credit and co-curricular courses, industry-focused PD workshops, and corporate training sessions on foreign languages, advanced communication, Knowledge Sharing, and on mastering key employability skills. She advises and mentors startups, actively contributes to a pan-Canadian project ‘The Engineer of 2050’ and collaborates with a country-wide team on Technological Stewardship. She is affiliated with several academic and professional associations and communities of practice.
