Carolyn Best
Carolyn Best is the Manager of the Writing Centre at Memorial University. After completing her B.A. in German and English (double major) at Memorial, she worked as a foreign language assistant in Germany. After returning to Canada and teaching for another year, she decided to pursue a B.Ed. in Teaching English as a Second Language (Concordia) and an M.A. in Applied Language Studies (Carleton). After teaching for a number of years in Ottawa at a language school and at Carleton University, life took her back to Memorial where she worked first as Coordinator and then as Associate Director of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs. During this time she also taught academic writing courses for second language students. Her 24 years of teaching and administrative experience in ESL recently led her to her current position in the Writing Centre.
