When you choose to study at Memorial University, you are choosing to study in Canada. Canada is the world's second-largest country by geographic size, and home to a multicultural population of about 35 million people. Our country is known world-wide for its high-quality, affordable post-secondary education.

Canada has ten provinces and three territories, and education falls under the jurisdiction of the provincial and territorial governments. Memorial University receives substantial funding from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, allowing us to offer some of the lowest tuition rates in Canada--both for Canadian and international students.

Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada's easternmost province, on the Atlantic coast, and is known for its rugged natural beauty and distinct culture. Our cities of St. John's and Corner Brook are relatively small--but safe, clean, and welcoming places to study.

Getting a study permit

International students planning to study in Canada for more than six months require a study permit from the Government of Canada. You will start the study permit application process after you have applied for admission to Memorial University and received an acceptance letter. 

Please note that when you are offered admission to Memorial, the Office of the Registrar will provide electronic copies, via email, of the admission documentation required to apply for your study permit. These electronic documents can be uploaded as part of your online study permit application.
