General admission requirements

Credential

Bachiller Academico and completion of at least one year of study at a recognized Junior College, College or University.

Exceptional candidates may be considered for general admission on the basis of the Bachiller.

Required subject areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics1
  3. Laboratory Science1,2 (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language1
  5. Elective

1Students who are missing an eligible course in one of subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact admissions@mun.ca.

2Combined Science is not acceptable to meet the laboratory science requirement.

General admission criteria

Grade requirement
  • Exceptional Bachiller students with a minimum grade of 4.6 (out of 5.0) or 9 (out of 10) in each of the required subject areas may be considered for general admission.
  • Students who complete at least one year of study at a recognized Junior College, College or University must be in clear academic standing (equivalent to a minimum of 2.0 on a 4.0-point GPA scale).
English language proficiency
Competitive program entry (if applicable)
  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.

  • Current interim transcript and English translation (if applicable). These can be uploaded to the admissions portal or sent by email
  • Official English proficiency test result.
  • Supplementary information for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.

When you apply (early decision)
  • Translated current, interim transcript and current original language interim transcript. These transcripts can be official or unofficial.
  • Official English proficiency test result.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
    • Nursing applicants should e-mail an unofficial copy of their mid-year grade/progress report (issued by their school in January/February) no later than March 1.
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
  • Certified translation of Certificado de Notas/Calificaciones containing final Bachiller grades and a certified copy of the original language document, sent by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar.

If you are currently enrolled at a post-secondary institution

When you apply (early decision)
  • Certified translation of Certificado de Notas/Calificaciones containing final Bachiller grades and a certified copy of the original language document, sent by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Current, interim post-secondary transcript. This transcript can be official or unofficial.
  • Official English proficiency test result.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
    • Nursing applicants should e-mail an unofficial copy of their mid-year grade/progress report (issued by their school in January/February) no later than March 1.
  • For more information regarding transferring to Memorial, refer to our university or college applicant requirements.
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
  • Official, final post-secondary transcript sent directly from the Junior College, College or University by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar
