General admission requirements
Credential
Caribbean Secondary Examinations Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) or Caribbean Secondary Examinations Certificate (CSEC) and at least one year of study at a recognized Junior College, College or University.

- Mathematics*
- Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
- Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language*
- Elective
*Students who are missing an eligible course in one of subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact admissions@mun.ca.
General admission criteria
Grade requirement
- Applicants are required to hold a Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) with a minimum grade of 2 in the required subject areas; and a minimum of two 2-unit subjects on the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) or successful completion of at least one year of study at a recognized Junior College, College or University.
English language proficiency
- Proof of English language proficiency beyond diploma completion is normally not required. Refer to our English language requirements for further details.
Competitive program entry (if applicable)
- Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.
Additional notes
Completion of CAPE subject examinations with minimum scores may qualify accepted applicants for course-based transfer credit.

When you apply (early acceptance)
- Upload your CSEC certificate and an interim transcript or predicted CAPE grades to the admissions portal. Note: these documents will be considered unofficial, but may be sufficient for early acceptance.
- Submit your official English proficiency test result (if required). See the general admission criteria section above.
- Supplementary information for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
When you complete your examinations (verified acceptance)
- Arrange to have your official CSEC and CAPE certificates sent to admiss.docs@mun.ca directly from the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).
If you have completed CAPE examinations
- Upload your CSEC and CAPE certificates to the admissions portal. Note: these documents will be considered unofficial, but may be sufficient for early acceptance.
- Official CSEC and CAPE certificates will be required for verified acceptance. Arrange to have your CSEC and CAPE certificates sent to admiss.docs@mun.ca directly from the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).
- Submit your official English proficiency test result (if required). See the general admission criteria section above.
- Supplementary information for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
If you have attended a post-secondary institution
- You are required to apply as a transfer student. In addition to the information provided above, please refer to our university or college transfer applicant requirements.
