Prospective Students
I am currently looking for two highly motivated and creative graduate students at the MSc or PhD level to join the lab. I welcome students with backgrounds in biology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, marine science, oceanography or related fields. Students in my group will have local and international fieldwork opportunities and lab based research opportunities. Individual projects may be more biologically or chemically focused based on the student’s background and interests. Specific areas of research include: 1) Climate induced land-sea interactions, 2) Shifting paradigms in microbial physiology, 3) Impacts of changing land use on marine systems, 4) Nitrogen fixation and 5) Harmful algal blooms. These are just a few areas of potential research. I also encourage creative students with their own interests in oceanography biogeochemistry to apply. If you are interested in joining our group please send me an email (resipler@mun.ca) with your resume/CV and a letter describing your background and interests as they relate to this research program.
One of the two graduate student positions available in 2018 will be co-advised by Dr. Suzan Ziegler in the Earth Sciences Department at MUN. This particular project will focus on understanding the land-sea interactions in the boreal watersheds of Newfoundland and Labrador. The position will include field and laboratory work and provide an exciting opportunity to work with two energetic, cross disciplinary research groups at MUN.
