There are several components which pediatric residents need to complete over their residency program. As of 2026 these components include:

1. Complete an independent research / academic project
2. Present the project proposal at Pediatric Residents Research Day
3. Present the project results at Pediatric Residents Research Day
4. Complete the TCPS 2 Research Ethics Certificate
5. Regularly attend and present at pediatric journal club
6. Regularly attend academic half days on research
7. Complete the Fundamentals of Clinical Research module series
8. Submit research report at the end of the project
