Newsletters

Published annually, the Department of Folklore newsletter celebrates the accomplishments of our faculty, students, and alumni. We share photos and memories from events in the Department and around the community. And, we hear from current students about what they're up to outside of the classroom.

Folklore Newsletter, December 2023

Highlights from the December 2023 newsletter:

Making it Home: Folklore Field School 2023. Dr. Kelley Totten led the 2023 Department of Folklore Field School in Port Union, Newfoundland. We describe the many exciting presentations and events that were part of this year's Field School, and students share their research and reflections on three weeks in the community.

Faculty Retreat. In the summer of 2023, the folklore professors met for a day-long retreat. We reflected on the history of the Department and developed plans in response to the recent Academic Unit Planning process.

MUNFLA’s Reading Room re-opened. After months of renovations, the Memorial University of Newfoundland Folklore and Language Archive (MUNFLA) is once again open to researchers and archival tours.
