Apply for Admission to the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University

Are you ready to embark on a journey to become a Geoscientist? The Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University welcomes you to explore our undergraduate programs that combine hands-on learning with scientific excellence.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Prepare in High School: While taking Earth Systems 3209 is not mandatory, we encourage you to do your best in your science courses to set a strong foundation.

  2. Apply to Memorial University: Start your adventure by applying as an undergraduate student in the Faculty of Science.

  3. Complete Your First Semester: Enroll in introductory courses during the Fall semester, including Earth Sciences (1000), English (1090), Mathematics (1000 or 1090), Chemistry (1050 or 1010), and Physics (1050 or 1020).

  4. Declare Your Major: After successfully completing your first semester, you can apply to major in Earth Sciences!

  5. Finish Your Second Semester: In the Winter semester, continue with Earth Sciences (1002), Mathematics (1001 or 1000), Chemistry (1050 or 1051), and Physics (1051 or 1021).

Helpful Tip: Aim to complete five courses each semester. This strategy not only allows you to finish your Bachelor's degree in four years but also keeps you eligible for scholarships (with a minimum 75% average) and saves you money in the long run.

Career Prospects: Graduates from the Earth Sciences program are highly sought after in various sectors, including the mineral and petroleum industries, geological surveys, government agencies, and academia.
