IPN advocates for work for international talent that is commensurate with their experiences and qualifications, whether those experiences and qualifications exist before arriving in Canada/NL or are obtained after arriving in Canada/NL.

Typical Volunteer Duties:

Membership Coordinator: This volunteer can be a Memorial student, graduate or wider community member. This position is necessary to network functioning: the time commitment is 1 to 4 hours per week, depending on how you want to grow the position.

  1. Functions as the registration contact for all new IPN members
  2. Maintains registration documentation of all IPN members within the Googledrive in a secure, private area
  3. Updates the Communications Coordinator (Internal) regarding new members for the internal contact list
  4. Manages all IPN member recruitment campaigns and member relations
  5. Presents to other organizations about IPN (i.e., on campus or Study and Stay NL, etc.)
  6. Matches new members with volunteer opportunities

Communications Coordinator (Internal): This position is only open to Memorial students as you will need to be able to book rooms on campus without incurring rental charges. This role is necessary to network functioning and should not take more than 6 to 8 hours per month:

  1. Ensures minutes of IPN meetings are recorded, filed in the Googledrive and distributed to the members of IPN within one week of the monthly meeting.
  2. Books the Centre for Social Enterprise or an alternative university space for the next monthly meeting.
  3. Submits information about the next meeting to the Communications Coordinator (Internal/External) for the newsletter and the IPN LinkedIn Group.
  4. Reminds all IPN members on the internal contact list of the meeting time and place on the Monday before the meeting.
  5. Maintains the internal contact list, the WhatsApp group(s) and distributes emails sent to the ipnpipeline@gmail.com email to the appropriate IPN member for response on a weekly basis
  6. Maintains the organization of IPN folders and files in the Googledrive

Volunteer Coordinator: This volunteer can be a Memorial student, graduate or wider community member. This position is necessary to network functioning: the time commitment is 1 to 4 hours per week, depending on how you want to grow the position.

  1. Functions as the supervisory contact for all IPN volunteers
  2. Maintains volunteer documentation of all IPN volunteers within the Googledrive in a secure, private area
  3. Updates the Communications Coordinator (Internal) regarding new volunteers for the IPN contact list
  4. Manages all IPN volunteer campaigns and volunteers
  5. Liaises with Event Coordinators to ensure volunteer staffing of event planning committees and event days are sufficient
  6. Matches volunteers with volunteer opportunities and helps volunteers create dynamic new opportunities within IPN's mandate

Steering Committee Member (May to August 2025). This volunteer can be a Memorial student, graduate or wider community member. Co-operative experience is an asset, but all are welcome. We will meet biweekly at the Centre for Social Enterprise (CSE) all spring/summer and work together to transform IPN into a co-operative. The time commitment will be 20 to 24 hours per month. Tasks include meetings, taking minutes, creating agendas, doing research, writing policy and bylaws, writing grant applications and much, much more. The opportunity to sit on the first board of directors for the co-operative will directly come out of this experience!

Event Host: This volunteer can be a Memorial student, graduate or wider community member. This position supports ongoing program offerings developed by IPN. The time commitment is 2 to 4 hours per week, depending on how you want to grow the position.

*Option One: Event Host for The Rooms Coffee and Art Meet-up (monthly). You will liaise with the venue, create a plan for networking activities at the event, promote the event and be the key person who welcomes people to the event and introduces them to other IPN members.

*Option Two: Event Host for the The Breezeway Coffee and Games Meet-up (monthly, but not in conflict with Option One). You will liaise with the venue, create a plan for networking activities at the event, promote the event and be the key person who welcomes people to the event and introduces them to other IPN members.

*Option Three: Event Host for The Breezeway Co-Working Job Application Meet-up (weekly, but not in conflict with Options One or Two). You will liaise with the venue, create a plan for co-working activities at the event, promote the event and be the key person who welcomes people to the event and introduces them to co-working job search participants.

*Option Four: Event Host for an Off-Campus Co-Working Job Application Meet-up (weekly, not in conflict with Options One, Two or Three, could be venue or venues of your choice). You will liaise with the venue(s), create a plan for co-working activities at the event, promote the event and be the key person who welcomes people to the event and introduces them to co-working job search participants.

Registration: Volunteers can email a copy of their resume to ipnpipeline@gmail.com, with the subject line EVENT VOLUNTEER, and a short paragraph telling the event coordinators what skills they bring to the event and how they want to help IPN at the event. Event coordinators Racquel Newman and Atinuke Tiamiyu will get back to you within one week and set up the next steps from there!

Requirements: Volunteers need to read and agree to follow the IPN Community Guidelines. These guidelines set out how we relate to each other, how we foster a safe environment, how we are inclusive and equity oriented, how we respect each other, and how we handle damaging behaviours.
