Nominations for Volunteer Day Awards 2025 are now open! For the nomination process, download the PDF/Word file of your chosen category, fill out each section carefully, and send it in to svb@mun.ca.

Deadline to submit nomintaion forms is 7th of March, 2025 (except The Blundon Award).

Student Volunteer of the Year

This award is presented to a student at Memorial who has made exceptional contributions to the community of Memorial, locally, provincially, or globally, through their volunteer efforts during the past year. For the purpose of this award, a student may be pursuing either Undergraduate or Graduate programs.

Note: Individuals who fall into multiple categories may only be considered for one award.

The David Kirkland Award (The Student Leadership Award)

The David Kirkland Award (The Student Leadership Award) is presented to a student who has made exceptional contributions to the Memorial community through their leadership and volunteer efforts during the past year. Qualities of this student should include integrity, dedication, humility, creativity, open-mindedness, and dependability. To be eligible, students must possess a minimum average of 65%. For the purpose of this award, a student may be pursuing either Undergraduate or Graduate programs.

Volunteer Student Group of the Year

This award is presented to a ratified Club, Society or Resource Centre active at Memorial which has made exceptional contributions to campus and community life through their volunteer efforts during the past year. Please be aware that this award is based on the collective volunteer efforts of the members of the student group and not the individual students within the organization.

Volunteer Residence of the Year

This award is presented to a Residence at Memorial that has made exceptional contributions to campus and community life through volunteer efforts during the past year. Please be aware that this award is based on the collective volunteer efforts of the members of the residence and not the individual students within the organization.

The Blundon Award

The Glenn Roy Blundon Award, named after former Memorial student Glenn Roy Blundon, is presented annually to an individual or a group who has gone above and beyond their normal duties to promote equality and accessibility for Memorial students with disabilities.  Previous recipients of the Blundon Award can be found on our website.

Faculty, staff, students as well as community members outside of Memorial University are eligible for consideration for the Blundon Award. Self-nominations are no accepted.  Any other questions about the eligibility or process can be directed to jgeary@mun.ca.

Nominations open:  Monday, February 24th at 12:00am
Nominations close:  Monday, March 10th at 5:00pm (NT)

To submit a nomination for the 2024 Blundon Award, submit a completed nomination form by 5pm on March 10th.
