Pediatric Clerkship Overview

The Pediatric Core Rotation is an eight (8) week rotation held at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre. The rotation is divided into:

  • Wards – 2 weeks on J4Medicine (Ward call is expected during the 4 weeks of wards + clinics. It is in-house call.)
  • Clinics block – 2 weeks of clinics.

OR 4 weeks - Wards/Clinics at a distributed site (Grand Falls Windsor, Corner Brook, or St. Anthony).

  • Neonatology – 2 weeks spent on 5NB with healthy newborns.
  • Emergency – 2 weeks spent in the Janeway ER. (JER)

There is an option to do the wards/clinics block in a peripheral community hospitals (currently Grand Falls-Windsor, Corner Brook and St. Anthony) depending on availability of time slots, and factors at the discretion of the discipline. Those interested should indicate this option.

Another option is to do the entire pediatrics rotation (8 week block) in Saint John, New Brunswick.
