Loanword Phonology
Researcher
Yvan Rose
Description
Study of how languages adapt the sound and sound combinations contained in words borrowed from other languages. In this research, I focus more specifically on whether the adaptation is phonological, in the sense of dealing with representational aspects of the borrowed word, or phonetic, in the sense of being an artefact of the borrower’s acoustic perception of the borrowed form.
