Memorial University Showcase Submissions
Call for Expressions of Interest
Memorial University will be an exciting hub of activity from August 8-25, 2025, when thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators are expected to attend the 2025 Canada Games. The Games presents a unique opportunity to provide a warm welcome to St. John’s campus, and extend invitations to experience other Memorial University campuses and locations. In the spirit of Memorial University’s centennial, it is also an opportunity to showcase the stories that make Memorial University special and invite visitors to help shape our future.
Share What Makes Memorial University Special
As a community partner of the 2025 Canada Games, Memorial University has been invited to curate a selection of diverse and exciting experiences for visitors at designated locations on St. John’s campus or online, and we would like to hear your ideas. Experiences can be anything that will create a lasting positive impression of Memorial University, such as interactive displays, demonstrations, arts and crafts, social media activities, or perhaps even creating a social space that provides comfort.
The themes of environmental sustainability, social inclusivity, community, and celebration are recommended by the Host Society, as well as those that provide comfort or short-term entertainment. These are similar to themes endorsed within Memorial University’s strategic plan, Transforming our Horizons. St. John’s Campus will be home to over 2,000 athletes, ages 12 to 21, each week of the Games, with the majority expected to fall between the ages of 15 and 17. Each athlete is typically accompanied by 2-3 supporters, although these visitors will not stay on campus. This is a wonderful opportunity to promote Memorial University to these primarily, junior high and high school students from across our province and the country.
Opportunities for experiences are limited and selected experiences will be implemented on St. John’s Campus or online during the Games from August 8-25, 2025. Depending on the level of interest received in response to this call, experiences will likely be scheduled once each week of the Games (once between August 8-16, 2025, and once again between August 17-25, 20025), in an interval between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and may include a weekend day. Your scheduled interval will depend on the nature of the activity, volunteer availability and how many submissions are received.
