100th Anniversary - lead: 100th anniversary project manager
We've come a long way since Memorial University College opened its campus on Parade Street in September 1925. And as Newfoundland and Labrador's only university, Memorial has maintained its special obligation to the people of this province for a century now. Established as a living memorial to our fallen soldiers, we serve to honour the great sacrifices of our past by preparing the people of this province for the future. The 100th anniversary will be an opportunity to reflect and remember but also to look ahead and shape the future we want for our university, and by extension, our province
The Big Splash - lead: Big Splash Committee, chaired by VP (administration, finance and advancement)
Inspired by our blue whale skeleton, we're making a Big Splash, a year of celebrations to showcase everything under the sea at Memorial. Join us for ocean events taking place all across Newfoundland and Labrador. Our Whale of a Day open house is a highlight of this initiative. The next Whale of a Day will occur in October 2023.
Giving Tuesday - lead: executive director, Office of Development
Each year, Memorial University participates in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving. For the past two years, our generous donors have annually donated approximately $160,000. For 2022, our Giving Tuesday champions matched up to $50,000 with donations being directed to the Thriving Student Fund.
