General Curriculum Requirements

Required subject areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics*
  3. Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language*
  5. Elective

*Students who are missing an eligible course in one of subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Applicants who have completed certain International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) courses may be eligible for transfer credit. 

General admission criteria

English language proficiency
  • Proof of English language proficiency beyond diploma completion may be required through a standardized test.
Competitive program entry (if applicable)
  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.
Grade and document requirements

Additional notes

Memorial generally does not require that applicants complete the College Board’s SAT examinations; however, students are welcome to submit their scores if they have already written the SAT and wish to share their result.

The College Board SAT Subject Test in Mathematics - Level 1 (SATM1) may be accepted in place of Memorial’s Math Placement Test (MPT) if a minimum score is attained. Visit the Department of Mathematics & Statistics for information on placement requirements.
