SUBJECT: Internationalization Office open house today, Sept. 17

Media representatives are invited to attend an open house and welcome event to celebrate the re-opening of Memorial's Internationalization Office (IO) on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The IO is a hub of support and services for international and domestic students. From the new space, located in the Corte Real building next to Burton's Pond apartments, Internationalization Office staff and student employees deliver programming to assist students with transition, support families, assist with immigration and career exploration and discover learning abroad opportunities.
In addition to the open house, presented in partnership with the City of St. John’s, the event will also feature the Association for New Canadians' Global Eats food truck. Participants include Chris Mitchelmore, minister, Advanced Education, Skills and Labour; Debbie Hanlon, councillor, City of St. John’s; Dr. Noreen Golfman, provost and vice-president (academic); Sonja Knutson, director, Internationalization Office, and Ahmed Shokr, an international student at Memorial.
The event will take place from 4-7 p.m., with brief speeches beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Internationalization Office.
