News Release

REF NO.: 13

SUBJECT: PSA: Your Dad's on Drugs: A School of Pharmacy public lecture

DATE: November 6, 2018

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians take more medications than anyone else in Canada.

But all those drugs may not be necessary. Is it possible to downsize someone's prescription pile? And how much could it improve that person’s life?

On Nov. 8 the School of Pharmacy’s Medication Therapy Services Clinic will welcome Dr. Justin Turner of the University of Montréal and the Canadian Deprescribing Network as the inaugural speaker of its public lecture series.

Dr. Turner specializes in research around optimizing the safe and effective use of medications in people over the age of 65.

Your Dad’s on Drugs: Can His Prescription Pile Be Downsized? is open to the public and takes place on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 7-9 p.m. at the Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation, room IIC-2001, on Memorial University's St. John's campus.

Parking is available in areas 17 and 18. The lecture will be followed by a question and answer period.
