SUBJECT: International workshop and symposium explores operational challenges in harsh environments

The third Workshop and Symposium on Safety and Integrity Management of Operations in Harsh Environments will take place at the Holiday Inn St. John’s Conference Centre from Oct. 18-20.
Hosted by the Centre for Risk, Integrity and Safety Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University, in collaboration with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, delegates will identify and discuss potential solutions to operational challenges in harsh environments.
About 150 leading experts from industry and academia will share knowledge and experiences to identify and establish new collaborative research opportunities relevant to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Area and other harsh environments. In addition, a special panel has been organized for the first day, focusing on the tragic sinking of the Ocean Ranger.
Members of the media are invited to attend at no cost. All media must register prior to attending by emailing Lesley Rideout at lrideout@cnlopb.ca.
Filming and recording of keynotes are permitted with prior consent; however, recording of workshop and/or symposium events is not permitted.
Photography, including pictures taken with mobile phones, will only be permitted in scientific sessions with presenters' approval. Presenters who object to photography will say so at the beginning of their presentations. All journalists are requested to abide by the decisions of the individual presenters.
