SUBJECT: Memorial University to host Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and Princess of Norway

On Thursday, Nov. 10, Memorial University will welcome Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.
Media are invited to attend the following events, but pre-registration is required.
Visit to the Marine Institute
Their Royal Highnesses will visit with delegates attending the Norway-Canada Arctic Collaboration Seminar on Safety and Preparedness in the Arctic and tour the Hibernia Offshore Operations Simulation Facility in the institute’s Centre for Marine Simulation.
They will be greeted by Dr. Gary Kachanoski, president and vice-chancellor, and Glenn Blackwood, vice-president, (Marine Institute), upon their arrival at the main entrance at 10 a.m. Media are invited to take photos at this time.

Forum on cold ocean research
A forum on cold ocean research in the Arctic will be hosted by Memorial’s Office of Public Engagement and the University of Tromsø, The Arctic University of Norway. The event takes place at the Johnson Geo Centre and begins at 2 p.m. Media are invited to take photos during the opening remarks.

Public literature event at the School of Music
The public is invited to attend A Cross-Cultural Literary Conversation: The Call of The Wild, a literary event featuring Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Norwegian author Erlend Loe and Newfoundland author Ed Riche, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall in the Music building on the St. John’s campus.
Their Royal Highnesses will be greeted by Dr. Susan Dyer Knight, chancellor, and Iris Petten, chair, Board of Regents, and children from Memorial’s Childcare Centre upon their arrival. Media are invited to take photos of the greeting and to attend the literary event.
