SUBJECT: Derek Murphy, Jeff LeDrew to be recognized by Memorial's business faculty

Business leaders Derek Murphy and Jeff LeDrew will be honoured by Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Administration at its annual Partners Celebration tonight.
Mr. Murphy, former senior vice-president, head of private equity at PSP Investments in Montreal, Que., will receive the 2015 Alumni Honour Award. He holds a bachelor of commerce (honours) degree from Memorial and a master of business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Mr. Murphy worked in the investment banking sector from 1986-97 for companies such as J.P. Morgan and Swiss Bank Corporation Warburg before opening his own private investment company, Barnridge Inc., in 1998. He joined PSP Investments in 2004.
Mr. LeDrew is the founder and chief executive officer of Jumping Bean Coffee –Eco2 Roast in St. John’s. He will receive the P.J. Gardiner 2015 Newfoundland and Labrador Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Mr. LeDrew worked locally and internationally as an electrical engineer for telecommunications companies before starting Jumping Bean in 2005.
Members of the media are invited to attend Partners, which is the business faculty’s annual celebration that brings together members of the faculty and business community with students and alumni to pay tribute to those who have achieved excellence in business while using their skills and expertise to contribute to their peers and communities.
Partners will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland. The awards presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m.
