SUBJECT: Genesis Centre joins Canadian Digital Media Network to contribute to digital media innovation

Genesis Centre, a division of Genesis Group Inc., Memorial Universitys technology commercialization arm, has joined the Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) a cross-Canada network of digital media innovation hubs collaborating to advance digital innovation nationally.
Through membership in this unique national network, Genesis Centre will gain domestic and international market exposure for its entrepreneur members and community. The Genesis Centre will also benefit from having access to proven regional programming and best practices of other network members. Joining Canadas largest members-only online collaboration of commercialization resources immediately expands the hubs client support capability, while enabling national access to the Genesis Centres regional resources.
The CDMN is Canadas digital media collaboration network connecting innovation hubs across the country, said Kevin Tuer, CDMN managing director. Were delighted to bring on board another organization dedicated to furthering Canadas competitiveness in the global digital economy and to advancing commercialization of digital media innovations.
Clients of the Genesis Centre have maintained a strong presence in digital media sectors since the inception of the centre. This new partnership will allow the centre to better service digital media clients by offering international market exposure and best practices from other network members.
Keelin OLeary, vice-president of entrepreneurial support for Genesis Group, said, This partnership with CDMN is an exciting one for the Genesis Centre. It brings what we are doing in Atlantic Canada to a national stage and CDMN resources will help to propel the companies into the global marketplace.
Effective today, The Genesis Centre will be a channel for driving participation in national initiatives that support the commercialization of innovation. Applications for the CDMN Soft-Landing Program, an initiative for mature startups and small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who can benefit from getting a toe-hold outside Canada to expand their businesses, will be accepted in the new year. Once announced, companies can apply for up to $4,000 of funding to cover travel and accommodation expenses associated with an up to three month stay at a business accelerator in an economy of interest.
