SUBJECT: Fifth annual SPARKS Literary Festival

Media are invited to the fifth annual SPARKS Literary Festival on Sunday, Jan. 19, at Memorial Universitys Suncor Energy Hall in the School of Music. Celebrating the written and spoken word in Newfoundland and Labrador, this day-long event (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) features 16 of Newfoundland and Labradors new and established writers of fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Participants include Neil Bishop, Paul Bowdring, Chris Brookes, Anne Budgell, Patrick Cotter, Michael Crummey, Mary Dalton, Elisabeth de Mariaffi, Marjorie Doyle, Mike Heffernan, Carmelita McGrath, Shannon Page, Chad Pelley, Jean M. Snook, Katie Vautour and Claire Wilkshire.
In addition, the winner of the third annual $2,500 Cox & Palmer SPARKS Literary Award will be announced during the days closing session at about 5:45 p.m.
