SUBJECT: PSA: Changing role of engineers topic of public lecture at Memorial University

Don Noseworthy, senior vice-president, energy division with Pennecon Limited, a0nd Terry Carter, manager, business development with Pennecon Energy Technical Services, will be on Memorial’s St. John’s campus on Wednesday, Oct. 24, for a public lecture as part of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science’s Speaking of Engineering lecture series.
Newfoundland is experiencing unprecedented growth and there is a pressing need for resources to staff current and upcoming projects. The new projects require a blend of local and global engineering resources. Today’s new engineer needs an enhanced skill set to participate in this new local/global project environment.
Mr. Noseworthy will present a local perspective based on his involvement in a number of projects executed in Newfoundland and Labrador, while Mr. Carter will present the new role of the engineer based on his experiences working overseas, and locally, for multinational companies.
This Speaking of Engineering lecture series, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University and the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m., in the S. J. Carew Engineering building’s Angus Bruneau Engineering Lecture Theatre, room EN-2006, on Memorial’s St. John’s campus. Admission is free. Parking is available in lot 16. All are welcome. Reception will follow.
