SUBJECT: Primary power restored in full to residence complex on Memorials St. Johns campus
DATE: March 5, 2012
Memorial University has restored primary power to the buildings in its residence complex including Paton College, Burtons Pond apartments, Baltimore Court and the MUN Childcare Centre. Primary power was restored in full by 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.
The university activated its Emergency Management Plan, which involved establishing temporary on-campus dormitories, arranging off-campus housing for students with families and providing emergency power services with generators.
The problem was caused when a 40-year-old cable failed. That cable was scheduled to be replaced at the end of this semester.
