SUBJECT: PSA: Local research showcased in film honouring Oceans Week

In honour of Oceans Week, the City of St. Johns is sponsoring a showing of the film Arctic Cliff-Hangers. The showing will take place Oct. 19 at
7:30 p.m. in the Inco Innovation Centre.
The film, which won the 2010 Best Wildlife Film at the San Francisco Oceans Film Festival, is focused on seabird research in the Canadian Arctic, part of an International Polar Year research project co-lead by Dr. Bill Montevecchi, Department of Psychology.
The film includes segment on local seabird hunting and a meal of turrs in Newfoundland.
Steve Smith, the photographer, and Julia Sulcz, the producer, will be present for the showing and will take questions following the film.
Dr. Montevecchi will also participate.

Donations to support Hurricane Igor disaster relief will be accepted at the showing.
