SUBJECT: PSA: Lecture at Memorial University asks Is Canada Fading from the Global Scene?

Dr. Fen Osler Hampson, chancellors professor and director of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University, will deliver the Department of Political Sciences Distinguished Speakers Lecture on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. in room 2109 of the Science Building. His topic will be Is Canada Fading from the Global Scene? The lecture is free and open to the public.
Dr. Hampson is the author/co-author of nine books, editor/co-editor of more than 25 other volumes and is the author of nearly 100 articles and book chapters on international affairs. He holds a PhD from Harvard University and an M.Sc. (Economics) degree from the London School of Economics.
Dr. Hampson is a senior advisor to the United States of Peace and has been a consultant to the International Peace Academy in New York, the Social Science Research Council in New York, the United Nations Commission on Human Security, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the MacArthur Foundation, the International Development Centre and Foreign Affairs Canada.
