News Release
REF NO.: 254
SUBJECT: Media and public invited to celebrate opening of Memorial University Community Garden
DATE: August 4, 2011
While many people are grumbling about the wet weather, you wont hear any such complaints at the brand-new Memorial University Community Garden, located on the St. Johns campus, directly behind Queens College.
The garden is looking lush and green, and to celebrate the first growing season, the gardens board of directors would like to invite all members of the public to a grand opening tree planting ceremony, outside in the garden on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at noon.
The ceremony will be followed by a casual reception, with fresh, local snacks. Guests are encouraged to explore the garden and speak with the gardeners.
While the plan is to enjoy the garden outside, the Great Hall in Queens College will be used in the event of rain.
No RSVP is necessary.
