SUBJECT: Marine Institute releases Annual Review 2010-11
DATE: June 17, 2011
The Fisheries and Marine Institute (MI) of Memorial University of Newfoundland will officially release its Annual Review 2010-11 on Friday, June 17, just prior to the MI graduation ceremony.
The Annual Review is a 28-page publication that provides insight and updates into the Marine Institutes recent accomplishments in a number of areas, including new programs, applied research, industrial support and student success.
We are immensely proud of the Annual Review. It offers a snapshot of the people, projects and research that have built the Marine Institute into a leader in oceans and marine education, said Glenn Blackwood, executive director, MI.
The title of the Annual Review is Dream Builders; a name that signifies the Marine Institutes ability to take an idea from a faculty member, student, researcher or industry partner and make it a reality through innovative research and programs that respond to industry needs.
Articles included in the publication focus on MIs centres, international work, student success, student research, new programs and the Institutes cutting edge research into such emergency areas as ocean mapping, ocean technology and marine safety training.
The Annual Review is a great way for our partners in industry and government to learn more about the many ways we can work together to provide support for the oceans and marine sectors, Mr. Blackwood said. It also serves as a keepsake for our graduates and their parents; a publication that displays the research and educational breakthroughs that occurred at MI during their time here.
The Annual Review was designed and published by the Marine Institutes Office of Marketing and Business Development. Employees Angela Bishop, Darcy MacRae, Dawn Roche and Kimberley Thornhill wrote and designed the publication.
