SUBJECT:

DATE: June 29, 2009

More than 500 children and youth are registered in Grenfell’s 33rd season of summer Activity Camps.
“We actually had to add two camps in Art Studio and Environmental Explorers, bringing our number of camps to 19,” said Michael Parcon, Activity Camp Supervisor.
The camps kicked off on June 29 with Environmental Explorers and Art Studio. Junior Volleyball begins Friday.
Participants will meet new friends, receive instruction from top coaches and instructors, and take part in other social activities, such as games, field trips and swimming. Each camper will receive a crested Activity Camp T-shirt and a group photo and a certificate of participation for each camp.
”About 13,000 campers have attended Grenfell’s Activity Camps since the college opened in 1975,” said Marilyn Forward, program developer at Community Education and College Relations. “There’s a reason for our popularity: we provide talented instructors and coaches, creating a summer environment in which kids will love to learn. Plus children get to experience learning on a university campus – an enrichment opportunity most people don’t experience until high school graduation.”
Other offerings include Senior Volleyball, Junior and Senior Basketball, Super Summer Bonanza, CSI Camp, Musical Theatre, Mini Sports and Dance-to-da-Beat.
For more information or for a full listing of camps, visit the Activity Camps website via www.swgc.mun.ca/commeduc.
