SUBJECT: Memorial University hosts appreciation BBQ for faculty, staff and retirees
DATE: August 26, 2009
Note to editors:
Memorial University is hosting an appreciation BBQ for faculty, staff, and retirees. The BBQ has become a campus tradition and is happening Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, from 3 – 6 p.m., in the Dining Hall and Paton College Courtyard, located on the St. John’s campus. Over 700 faculty, staff, and retirees of Memorial’s St. John’s campus and Marine Institute are expected at the annual BBQ to enjoy good food, roving entertainment, music, some prizes and a great time!
“The Summer BBQ is an opportunity to acknowledge the work that staff, faculty and retirees do and thank them for their valuable contribution to Memorial”, said Lisa Hollett, director of Human Resources.” As Memorial University begins another academic year, this is a time to celebrate successes, refresh acquaintances as the summer draws to a close, and talk about the future.”
Admission to the BBQ is a non-perishable food item or monetary contribution to the Campus Food Bank. The BBQ is supported through campus fundraising and this year is also co-sponsored by Honeywell. A BBQ will also be held on the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College campus early in September.
