SUBJECT: Canadian ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina visits Memorial

Media agencies are advised that David Hutchings, an alumnus of Memorial University, and the current ambassador of Canada to Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be visiting the St. John’s campus on Thursday,
Jan. 22, to speak with students about potential career opportunities in foreign affairs.
Ambassador Hutchings will deliver a special presentation beginning at 5:15 p.m., in room A-1046 in the Arts and Administration Building. Media are welcome to attend the presentation which will conclude at roughly 6:45 p.m.
Prior to the presentation, Ambassador Hutchings will also meet with Dr. Eddy Campbell, acting president of Memorial, and tour the university.
Ambassador Hutchings has previously been chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of Canada in Sudan, deputy head of mission in Cairo, and also served abroad at Canadian embassies in Seoul, Riyadh, Moscow and Bonn.
Before joining the Foreign Service, Ambassador Hutchings held positions at the National Capital Commission, Health Canada, Canadian Heritage and the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. In July 2006, he became ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
