Calling all people with flashlights and hand-held flashes!
Grenfell College photography instructor Michelle Baikie invites the public to take part in a photography experience like no other. On Sunday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m., people with flashlights and hand-held flashes should meet outside the college’s Fine Arts Building to help her “paint with light.” While volunteers walk around the Fine Arts Building flashing their hand-held flashes, Ms. Baikie will take a photo using long-duration exposure. The camera shutter will be open for a full minute, and none of the volunteers will be seen in the photo. Instead, the result will be an ethereal photo of the Fine Arts Building, emerging with an otherworldly glow from the darkness. Anyone who has a hand-held flash kicking around can either come along and volunteer, or to loan it for use during the project.
A reception will be held following the event in the Fine Arts Atrium; coffee and treats will be provided compliments of the College’s Research Office.
For more information, contact Michelle Baikie at 637-6200 ext. 6386 or mrbaikie@swgc.mun.ca.
