For the second half of its 20th anniversary season the theatre program will present three productions.
At the end of February it will mount its first “chamber” production. The Rehearsal Studio in the Fine Arts basement will be converted into an intimate “chamber theatre” for a production of Anton Chekhov’s early 20th century masterpiece Three Sisters. With the audience only inches from the performers and without elaborate sets, costumes or lighting effects, this will be a unique theatrical experience where all that matters is the beauty of the play and the truthfulness of the players. Three Sisters will be directed by Ken Livingstone, head, fine arts, with design co-ordination by Carol Nelson, chair, theatre, and guest performance by visiting professor and veteran actor Jerry Etienne.
Next up in early March, visiting professor Adam Nashman will direct his own version of August Strindberg’s seminal A Dream Play on the mainstage, featuring choreography by guest artist Nicola Pantin. The design team for A Dream Play will include Renate Pohl, roy Hansen-robitschek, Bruce Bryne and Dale Power.
Finally, at the beginning of April the fourth-year graduating class will present its Harlow “thesis production” of Shakespeare’s Richard III, directed by visiting professor Stephen Drover, and designed by Renate Pohl and roy Hansen-robitschek.
