SUBJECT: PSA: Social Work Week public presentation
DATE: March 11, 2008
Sheri McConnell from Memorial University’s School of Social Work will deliver a free public presentation tonight, Tuesday, March 11, on the St. John’s campus as part of Social Work Week 2008. Her lecture is entitled Flying in the Face of Moral Outrage: Human Rights and Social Justice for Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Persons. The presentation will explore the roots and impact of the oppression of lesbian, gay, and bisexual persons and collective strategies to move toward full inclusion and acceptance of lesbian, gay, and bisexual persons in the community.
The lecture takes place at 7:30 p.m., in the Inco Innovation Centre lecture theatre, room IIC-2001. Free parking is available in Lot 17. All are welcome.
The event is sponsored by Memorial’s School of Social Work and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers.
